Alison is responsible for the dissemination of CRD research outputs and services and provides advice on how to develop dissemination strategies to individuals and organisations involved in health and social care. She has extensive experience translating and presenting the findings of systematic reviews in a number of formats for a wide range of professional, research and lay audiences. Alison is the lead on the development and management of PROSPERO, an international prospective register of systematic reviews, and manages the HTA database. She also represents CRD on the NIHR Communications group and is a member of the NIHR Portal Project Board.
Alison's previous experiences include nearly 30 years as a radiographer in the NHS, and several years in clinical governance, promoting evidence based practice. Undertaking an MSc led her into the world of research. Alison also has experience on national research ethics, and research governance committees as an expert member and as chairman.
Alison's research interests include biases in systematic reviews; the ways in which research influences policy and practice; and how research is portrayed in the media.Selected publications
