An offer of a place on any programme is made on the basis of a successful interview, which includes a group discussion and an individual interview.
Evidence of care experience in a relevant setting is considered positively and we welcome applications from mature students. Offers are conditional upon a satisfactory health assessment and a full CRB Check (MS Word

If your first language is not English then you must have International English Language Testing System (score 7.0 or above). We may consider equivalent qualifications.
You should also be aware that you will be screened for vaccination requirements at the start of the programme. Completion of required vaccinations is necessary to undertake practice placements, both for your own safety and that of your clients. Click here for Guidelines from Occupational Health (PDF

From October 2011, nurse education at York will be an all degree programme leading to professional registration as a nurse. There will no longer be an opportunity to exit at diploma level with professional registration. Consequently, entry requirements are now slightly higher to ensure that students are well prepared for study in higher education and subsequently prepared to lead nursing practice in modern healthcare. From October 2011, we will refer to fields of nursing practice, rather than branches (Adult, Child, Learning Disability and Mental Health). This is following guidance from the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
The minimum entry requirements for our degree programme are: Typical offer BBC for A level students (two AS can be substituted for one A level) and Maths and English GCSE at Grade C or above.
Equivalent or alternative qualifications are welcomed and considered.
To enable you to identify whether you have the required entry qualifications, please click on the following tariff link which contains a range of the most common qualifications we accept. If your qualification is not shown on the tariff, please contact our admissions team: dohs-ug-enquiries@york.ac.uk
For general requirements, see our general entry requirements information.
Students who don't achieve their predicted grades at A Level in August should contact our admissions team for further advice.
