VISITING and SOCRATES EXCHANGE STUDENTS

There is a long tradition of welcoming visiting students from overseas to the Music Department, and we currently have visitors from mainland Europe, the USA and several far eastern countries. The Department welcomes students either on Socrates exchange or as Visiting Students for one, two or three terms. All such students are encouraged to take a full role within the Department including project modules, membership of Departmental Ensembles and instrumental or vocal tuition (as appropriate).

We have currently have links with the following universities:

Finland Sibelius Academy, Helsinki;
Turun Yliopisto, Turku
France Université Francois Rabelais, Tours
Greece Ionian University, Korfu
Italy Universita degli Studi di Pavia

An outline of courses available in the coming academic year is online. All projects are worth 20 York Credits (equivalent to 10 ECTS Credits) with the exception of the Practical Project and the First Year Projects which are worth 10 York Credits (5 ECTS). It's important to make sure you know what credits you need to take home with you, and we are generally able to tailor students' credit requirements so that they match the requirements of the home university. The list is only a guide, and courses sometimes change. Email John Potter on jp32@york.ac.uk for further details.
