Every member of the professoriate is eligible to give an inaugural lecture, but it is not obligatory. An inaugural lecture is an opportunity for the professor to share his or her research with colleagues both within and outside the University; it is also an opportunity to profile the research undertaken in departments.
We aim to run five inaugural lectures each term. If you would like to run a series of joint inaugural lectures, or even a half day of lectures - perhaps connected with a planned seminar or conference - we would be happy to help you organise this outside the normal format.
