Good internal communication is important to keep staff informed of news and developments, and to share the University's objectives and values. In the Communications Office, we work to establish two-way communications with staff, and maintain and review communications channels across the University. We also support strategic projects, and other initiatives, by developing and delivering communications to the University community.
We don't focus on internal communications only at the organisational level, however - we also advise and help departments, colleges and units with their own internal communications. This can be by means of a departmental survey, for example, which will assess how effectively information is being shared across different staff groups, and identify areas for improvement.
York Extra is the the University's online internal news system.

Briefing Notes are issued to announce important policy decisions. They are issued through Departmental Administrators, or other nominated contacts, in each department/college/section or unit. Briefing notes may also appear on York Extra.
If you do not currently receive Briefing Notes and would like to, please contact Alison Sherratt, alison.sherratt@york.ac.uk.
