The Department of Chemistry has been ranked 5th (out of 50) in the Times University Guide 2013. The table, which is based on factors such as student satisfaction and research quality, rank both subjects (departments) and universities as a whole. For Chemistry, we achieved an excellent score of 89.4%.
Following publication of the Guardian University Guide 2013, this means that Chemistry@York is placed in the top 5 UK Chemistry Departments in two major league tables.
Head of Department, Professor Richard Taylor says, “Members of the Department of Chemistry at York are very proud of our longstanding reputation for excellence in both research and teaching. To come in the top five UK Chemistry Departments in both the Guardian and Times league tables, once again, is a tremendous achievement. And most importantly from my viewpoint, York has the highest student satisfaction rating of any department in the top 5 of the tables (99% in the Guardian University Guide 2013).”
