Dr Jacqui Hamilton has been awarded this year's Desty Memorial Award for Innovation in Separation Science. Dr Hamilton will receive her award and present a lecture to distinguished scientists at the Royal Institution on 7 October.
Denis Desty (1923-94) was both a distinguished scientist and pre-eminently great creative inventor. He devised many practical techniques in separation science and has nearly 500 patents associated with his name.
The Department is also very proud as it is the first to have two Desty award winners with Professor Ally Lewis receiving the award several years ago.
