The "Chemical InterActions" society provides all departmental members (undergraduates, postgraduates and all staff including post-doctoral fellows) with an opportunity to exchange information about their own culture and, most importantly, to provide them with general information about the department, campus, or the city. Chemical InterActions will certainly help our international members to make the most of this new experience of living and working in a different country. There are over 100 international members of the department; the society is open to all departmental members wherever they are from.
Chemical InterActions, formally known as the International Club, holds a range of events including Welcome parties, Christmas parties, Intercultural Experience Seminars and a careers event including expert advice on CV writing and interview techniques from the Careers Service.
Membership costs £4 and gives members priority and reduced entry to events and activities.
Further information on the events and activities will appear soon on the website and on York Extra and will be circulated by email.
Contact the current Chairs, Helen Parker (hlp510@york.ac.uk) or Peter Hurst (ph508@york.ac.uk) for more information or if you would like to join Chemical InterActions.
Events have included a Welcome Party, a mini research symposium, a Christmas Party, a film showing and discussion, Chinese New Year, St Patrick’s Day and Bastille Day celebrations and a Spanish Easter party. These events have been well attended by staff and students and enjoyable to all.
