Telephony

The Telephony section is located in the Information Centre and is part of Campus Services. Peter Jarvis is the Information Centre Servicers Manager and can be contacted on ext 2010 or email peter.jarvis@york.ac.uk.

The University telephone network consists of several telephone exchanges and approximately 5,000 extensions.

External callers dialling (01904) 320000 are connected to the University switchboard operator from 8.30am to 6pm weekdays (except holidays). Outside these hours an auto attendant informs callers that the switchboard is closed, allows dialling of extension numbers and provides a number for emergencies (01904) 323333.

Incoming Direct Dial In (DDI) is provided to the majority of extensions. To call a University extension number from external, precede the extension number with (01904) 32.
