Aims

  • To explore the relationship between producers and consumers of archaeological knowledge
  • To provide a critical analysis of narrative forms currently employed in contemporary archaeology
  • To review experiments with alternative forms of representation

Learning outcomes

Upon completion of this module students should:

  • Have gained the ability to critically evaluate both the content and the mode of delivery of site monographs, works of synthesis and other archaeological texts
  • Have a familiarity with the full range of media available to contemporary archaeologists
  • Possess the ability to think creatively about the use of those media
