Aims

  • To provide a detailed understanding of key themes within the historic landscape
  • To engage with the analysis and interpretation of different activities within the cultural landscape and apply theoretical paradigms
  • To encourage the critical review of published work on a wide variety of landscapes from all over the world

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this module students should:
  • achieve a critical review of interpretative and theoretical approaches to historic landscapes
  • gain an understanding how the landscape has been manipulated for a variety of motives by different communities
  • understand a number of key themes through the exploration of varied landscape types
