Event details

As we reach the midpoint in our 10-year funding from the Leverhulme Trust we also mark the transition of Directors as Professor Chris Thomas hands over the reins to Professor Lindsey Gillson. Professor Gillson is a highly accomplished savanna ecologist returning to the UK and coming to York from the University of Cape Town.

Following an opening by the Vice-Chancellor Professor Charlie Jeffery, LCAB’s PhD students, Postdoctoral researchers, and Fellows will introduce themselves and their diverse and inspiring research with plenty of opportunity for discussion.

Our afternoon session will feature Chris who will talk about how LCAB began, what we’ve done since and reflect on his time as Director. This will be followed by Lindsey who will speak about her work and her vision for the Centre for the next five years and beyond.

A keynote lecture by Professor Yadvinder Malhi on Nature in the Anthropocene through the lens of energy flow will close the day. Yadvinder is Professor of Ecosystem Science at the University of Oxford and Director of the Leverhulme Centre for Nature Recovery.

Open to University of York staff and students. Please register to attend by Friday 3 May.
