Why do different species of birds have different beaks and feathers? Which bugs come out at night? Why are flowers flagrant or colourful?
Join children’s author and illustrator Yuval Zommer for a family-friendly creative workshop and discover some of the incredible species that live on our doorsteps. On this journey of exploration, you’ll learn some amazing facts about the bugs, birds, animals and flowers found in our cities and have chance to create your own mini beasts with Yuval’s help.

Book sales
You can buy copies of many of our speakers’ books from Fox Lane Books, a local independent bookseller and Festival partner. In some cases, author signed bookplates are available too.
About the speaker
Yuval Zommer studied at the Royal College of Art, London. He has worked as a creative director at many top advertising agencies and has written and illustrated several children’s books, including The Big Blue Thing on the Hill and One Hundred Sausages, as well as The Big Book of Bugs, The Big Book of Beasts, The Big Book of the Blue, The Big Book of Birds and The Big Book of Blooms.
