Buildings and contents

The Insurance Office arranges all risks cover including theft, fire, water damage, malicious damage, business interruption, loss from or damage to University buildings, contents, computers, money and artworks.

Temporary removal and property away from the premises includes cover for damage to machinery, plant materials, scientific equipment and all other contents while temporarily removed to any premises in the UK or worldwide for whatever reason and while in transit with a Limit of Liability - £250,000 for UK and worldwide cover.

Deterioration of Stock Cover includes Damage to Stock in refrigerated cabinets or freezers up to an amount of £50,000 any one unit and £100,000 any one event caused by deterioration or putrefaction.

It is a condition precedent to liability for Damage that a contract is in force providing for competent specialists to attend regularly to maintain and adjust the refrigerating machinery, other than hermetically sealed units. This extension is restricted to refrigerated cabinets or freezers that are less than 15 years old.
