Festival of Death and Dying

Festival of Death and Dying - Before I Go

Monday 12 May 2014, 9.00AM to 18 May 2014

Speaker(s): Prof Celia Kitzinger leading

This Festival will feature public talks and discussions led by scholars in the Sociology Department (and in other University Departments). We also have a raft of community and arts events – including music, poetry, photography and plays plus a series of workshops on topics such as: 'soul midwifery' (easing the transition of the soul into death), alternative funeral ceremonies, 'green' burials, and clinics for help with 'advance decisions' for end-of-life planning.

We want to open upnew possibilities for individuals, organisations and communities to engage with issues around death and dying. We will use the upcoming festival as a platform from which to engage stakeholders with our published and ongoing research projects, to build new collaborations and to plan future externally-funded research bids jointly with non-academic stakeholders.

The website for this event is at: http://www.beforeidiefestival.co.uk/
