The Field of Power: Elites, Capital Structures, Networks and Social Mobility. The Case of Norway.

In this talk, Johs. Hjellbrekke will present some of the results from his research on the Norwegian elites, based on Pierre Bourdieu's notion of the field of power. Based on data from the Elite Survey 2000, capital structures, networks and patterns of social mobility and closure will be discussed, with particular emphasis on the relations between social capital and social mobility in the elites.
