The Department of Language and Linguistic Science is hosting a special Tertulia session featuring Professor Mayda Hocevar González. The talk, titled "¿Qué pasó en Venezuela?", will examine the current political crisis and the obstacles facing a democratic transition in the country.

Hocevar González is a professor at the Faculty of Law and Director of the Human Rights Observatory at the University of Los Andes, Venezuela. She has spent over a decade documenting human rights violations and attacks on academic freedom. She is currently a Protective Fellow at the University of York Centre for Applied Human Rights (CAHR).

Please note that this event will be conducted entirely in Spanish. All are welcome to attend this exploration of civic space and political change.
