Tuesday 23 February 2016, 6.00PM to 8.00pm
Speaker(s): Jason Edwards and James Boaden
This event juxtaposes two short position papers on the topic of queer art history. In 'Artist's film and the queer archive' James Boaden looks at the way in which two contemporary artists have developed works that question the idea of the archive. In 'Queer Buddhism? Fishing in the bowels of Eve Kosofsky Sedgwick's Bodhisattva Fractal World', Jason Edwards considers an evocative, little known textile work by famed queer theorist Sedgwick, depicting the Chinese Buddhist Bodhisattva Kuan Yin, in relation to her broader interest in fishing, water sports and the middle ranges of agency.
