YorkTalks was inaugurated as part of the University’s 50th anniversary year with the University's Anniversary Professors presenting their research as part of a day-long event. YorkTalks is designed to encourage inter-disciplinary interactions by bringing together academic speakers from different disciplines in each session and is purposefully styled to emulate the best of TED style talks.

Each session is ticketed separately to encourage audiences to attend as much of the day as they can.  The History of Art Department's Michael White will be speaking at the first session:
