Schwitters in Context: The British Years

Saturday 20 April 2013, 2.00PM to 6.30pm

Michael White joins Shulamith Behr, Sarah MacDougall, Nick Wadley, Lloyd Gibson, and Rob Airey to discuss Kurt Schwitters' British period and its wider context, and to present his paper 'Black and White, and Read All Over: Colour and Meaning in Kurt Schwitters' Collages'.  Topics explored during this half day conference will include Schwitters' internment in Camp Hutchinson, the impact of the émigré network, the relationship between abstraction and representation in his work, as well as his final years in the Lake District.
