About the Contract Researchers Forum

The Contract Researchers Forum (CRF) is a platform, run by researchers like yourself, to support your career development. We do this by:
  • Creating, promoting and organising training and career development-related events
  • Facilitating a supportive and collegiate environment that encourages networking within and outside the department
  • Regularly canvas members for views on matters relevant to researchers and PhD students
  • Report its findings to relevant personnel and committees, as appropriate.
This platform serves to inform and implement the Department of Health Sciences Concordat action plans.

About the Concordat

The Concordat to Support the Career Development of Researchers is an agreement between universities, research institutes and funders to support the career development of researchers in the UK. The current set of Concordat Principles, published in September 2019, covers three overarching themes:
  • Environment and Culture- Excellent research requires a supportive and inclusive research culture
  • Employment- Researchers are recruited, employed and managed under conditions that recognise and value their contributions
  • Professional and Career Development - Professional and career development are integral to enabling researchers to develop their full potential.
