English and Related Literature Academic Excellence Scholarships

Open to UK (home) students only.

In order to be eligible you must also have an offer for a place on this course: BA (Hons) English

To be eligible, you must:

• be classed as a UK (Home) student. If you're unsure whether you're classed as a UK or international student for fee purposes, check your fee status
• hold an offer to study BA (Hons) English (Q300), starting your course in September 2025
• have made York your Firm choice by 4 June 2025
• have achieved a minimum A*A*A* if taking three A-levels, or A*A*AA with an A* in English Literature or English Language and Literature if taking four A-levels. Where more than 10 students meet this criteria, we will take any EPQ results into consideration as well. Students with equivalent IB and Cambridge Pre-U results are also eligible for consideration.

You don't need to apply for this scholarship. We will assess every applicant who meets the above eligibility criteria. If you're successful, we'll contact you we'll contact you on results day.

Students who meet the above eligibility criteria will be awarded the Academic Excellence Scholarship in the first year of study. Awardees will be notified in Semester 1 and payment will be made in Semester 2.

Students who arrange to transfer out of BA English or withdraw from the University will have their scholarship offer withdrawn.
