Northern Lights at York Minster

Posted on 24 October 2019

Northern Lights, a stunning sound and light installation, opens tonight, Thursday 24 October, at York Minster for a week-long run.

The cathedral’s cavernous nave will be transformed with images, words, and music inspired by the medieval Minster’s stained glass and stone. Our own Professor Matthew Townend, an expert on Old Norse Literature, was involved in producing the script and recording the voices. You will hear readings in Latin, Old English, and Old Norse, by Matt, Dr Kenneth Clarke, Dr James Williams, Dr George Younge, and PhD students from the English Department, alongside music by York Minster Choir.

See York Minster website for full details.
