Beckett Summer School - postgraduate award announced

Posted on 13 February 2018

The Department of English and Related Literature is offering a postgraduate award for MA and PhD students studying in the Department who are interested in the works of Samuel Beckett.

The award will enable a postgraduate student enrolled in the Department to attend the Samuel Beckett Summer School in Dublin, with the support of the Department's FR Leavis Fund, and in partnership with Trinity College Dublin.

The Samuel Beckett Summer School takes place at Trinity College between 29 July and 3 August 2018 and offers a full programme of lectures and seminars by leading scholars. Now in its eighth year, the School provides a unique experience for students, scholars and lovers of Samuel Beckett’s works. A full week of learning is complemented by social and cultural events each evening. Participants can experience, savour and study Beckett’s works in the university where he began his intellectual life.

The award consists of a fee waiver from Trinity College and £250 for travel costs from the Leavis Fund. The successful applicant will be responsible for covering their accommodation costs in Dublin. York postgraduate students wishing to be considered for this wonderful opportunity should apply by email to Dr Emilie Morin by Monday 19 March 2018, with a brief description of their research (no more than one page) and why they would benefit from this summer school.
