John Bowen's book 'Palgrave Advances in Charles Dickens Studies' has been named as one of the five best books on Dickens

Jenny Hartley, former president of the Dickens Fellowship and Professor at the University of Roehampton, has recommended the best books by and about the phenomenon that was and is Charles Dickens. You can read Jenny Hartley's interview on the Five Books website.

In 2012, John Bowen's book, Other Dickens: Pickwick to Chuzzlewit (1999), was named one of the five best critical books on Dickens on the Smithsonian Museum website.
