Launderettes

We have launderettes available for use by students living on campus in every college.

All of our launderette service points are managed by Circuit Laundry.

Laundry room locations

All college accommodation blocks have at least one launderette. You can view the availability of machines in real time using the Circuit Go app.

Circuit Go app

Circuit Laundry has recently launched the Circuit Go app, which replaces the previous Circuit Laundry Plus system. The new app
offers improved features and greater flexibility when using campus laundry services.

Features of the Circuit Go App:

Pay securely via debit/credit card or mobile wallet (eg Apple Pay, Google Pay).
View machine availability before visiting the laundry room.
Start machines remotely via the app.
Receive notifications when your cycle is complete.
Access digital receipts and in-app discount coupons.
Report faults and access live chat support.

You must register an account within the app before using it for the first time.

Contactless payment at machines

All machines now accept tap-to-pay using a contactless card, smartphone, or smartwatch. This allows you to start a cycle without
needing to download the app or use a top-up card.

Old laundry cards and balance transfers

If you previously used a Circuit laundry card or the older Circuit app and still have credit, you can transfer your balance to the new
system:

Balances under £10: Email Circuit with your laundry card number to receive a transfer code.
Balances over £10: Post your card to Circuit. The value will be added to your new Circuit Go account, and postage will be
reimbursed via an in-app coupon.
Balances over £50: Refunds will be issued to your original payment method (admin fee waived).

Before transferring any credit, please ensure you have registered on the new app. More information is available at Circuit's FAQs web page.

Laundry costs

Eco washing: £3.30 per cycle
Standard wash: £3.80
Drying: £1.80 per cycle

You can check machine availability and start cycles via the app or by tapping directly at the machine.

Please note: The University Laundry team is unable to assist with machine faults, refunds, or app issues. These must be raised directly with Circuit using the contact methods listed above.

The University regularly reviews laundry costs to ensure York’s prices remain competitive among the 80+ UK universities using Circuit. Because Circuit sets rates compared to local high-street laundrettes, prices vary by location.
