Methodological guidance

We have created methodological guidance for carrying our systematic reviews in healthcare since 1996. Our guidance, Systematic Reviews: CRD's guidance for undertaking reviews in healthcare, is now in its third edition [2009].

Widely used both nationally and internationally, our guidance continues to be recommended as a source of good practice. It promotes high standards in commissioning and conduct by providing practical guidance for undertaking systematic reviews evaluating the effects of health interventions.

Systematic Reviews is freely available to download and is also available in a print version [ISBN: 1900640473 / ISBN13: 9781900640473].

Databases

We manage a number of current and archive databases that provide a valuable and feely accessible contribution to the evidence synthesis process.

PROSPERO

PROSPERO is a publicly available international systematic review registry that promotes transparency and open science, reduces reporting bias and helps prevent unintended duplication and research waste. It is free to register and free to search.

PROSPERO has been developed and maintained by CRD since 2011 and is funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research.
