It's All Elementary

Posted on 24 June 2013

Around 40 of our alumni, retired staff and guests returned to the department to have a tour of our new facilities, and to hear a talk by Dr Jason Lynam.

As part of the University Anniversary Celebration Weekend, the department welcomed back a number of former students, staff and their guests on Saturday 22 June. This provided an opportunity for visitors to see our extensive new research and teaching facilities, and to hear of the progress on our new undergraduate teaching laboratory and Green Chemistry Centre of Excellence.

The highlight of the visit was a demonstration lecture by Dr Jason Lynam, entitled ‘It’s all elementary’. This included a discussion of his research work, including the development of carbon monoxide-releasing molecules.

There are a number of ways our alumni can interact with the department, and we encourage them to keep in touch and visit us – including a visit next year, to see our new teaching and research building.
