The 2017 Guardian league table has ranked York 4th in the UK for teaching quality in Chemistry.

The Guardian scores departments for overall student satisfaction, satisfaction with teaching and feedback, staff-student ratio, investment in students, student entry grades, value added to students, and career prospects.

Using this approach, out of over 50 UK universities which teach chemistry, York was ranked in an outstanding 4th place.  Remarkable outcomes such as 98% student satisfaction and 90% of students in further study or graduate level jobs 6 months after graduation, cemented York's excellent position in the table.

Building on the recent Complete University Guide league table, which also ranked York Chemistry 4th in the UK for both teaching and research, a consistent picture is emerging in which the hard work of talented students and staff, and the investment made in new facilities in the department over recent years, is bearing fruit.
