Applying to study with CHE
Regulations and entry requirements
PhD students are located in CHE but registered within a teaching department, usually the Department of Economics and Related Studies (DERS) or the Department of Health Sciences. Details of how to apply can be found on their webpages.
Before making an application you should consult the entry requirements for these departments to ensure that you qualify for the PhD programme at York. To register in DERS, the general expectation is that you would have a master’s degree in economics.
CHE cannot consider supervising your PhD until you have applied to one of these departments. If CHE cannot provide supervision, colleagues in the relevant department may be able to do so.
DERS also offers the option of studying via distance from Year two of the Integrated PhD in Economics and PhD in Health Economics.
