While there have been studies examining Employment Advisers within the NHS Talking Therapies service, few have taken a comprehensive, national level perspective. Evaluations have either been descriptive or based on small samples.
To our knowledge, no studies have comprehensively examined the impact of Employment Advisers at a national level on work-related and health outcomes, and their impact on the healthcare system, inequalities, value for money, or the economy. For some service users, there is a higher likelihood of people leaving work by the end of their sessions, so new research needs to establish whether/how Employment Advisers add value, and for whom.
The Support2Work Research Project aims to fill this gap and broaden the scope of previous work undertaken by the Department for Work and Pensions and the Department of Health and Social Care.
