This new book chapter describes the application of the Functional Resonance Analysis Method to study performance variability and trade-offs in an intensive care unit.

Dr Mark Sujan, part of the SAM demonstrator project team and an AAIP Fellow and collaborator has had a chapter published in a new book called Resilient Health Care (Braithwaite, Hollnagel, Hunte).

The case study in the chapter is the management of intravenous infusions, as demonstrated in the SAM project. The chapter describes the application of the Functional Resonance Analysis Method (FRAM) to study performance variability, and thus how trade-offs are made, in the intensive care unit.
