Celebrating your success on graduation day

We welcome new researchers into our large and active research community here at York. We have 10 Professors, 25 academic staff, 33 research staff, 58 PhD students and 8 research masters students who all contribute to a full and varied programme of research in the department.

Social policy and social work research students are part of the Research Centre for Social Sciences (ReCSS). Created in 2014 it offers you high quality accommodation in an interdisciplinary environment. ReCSS hosts events and training for social sciences research students as well as weekly coffee mornings where you can gather for a chat and support. ReCSS houses the ESRC White Rose Doctoral Training Centre. This offers excellent supervisioin, first class training and a vibrant intellectual environment for postgraduate research students. It enables PhD students to participate in national and international networks of industrial partners, opinion formers, policy makers and academics. It aims to produce doctoral graduates with outstanding skills and flexibility.
