Examination papers

Where do I find University of York examination papers?

Examination papers are held by the Library in two forms: electronic and paper. Examination papers since 2004 have been digitised and can be accessed online by University of York members via the Digital Library (YODL). Paper examination papers from 1965 to 2010 are held in Compact Store 2.

New papers are added to the Digital Library each year, late in the summer vacation, after the examinations have been held. HYMS and Psychology do not provide copies of their examination papers and Health Sciences have only provided them since 2010.

York Digital Library

All examination papers provided to the Library since 2004 have been digitised and are available to University of York members via York Digital Library (YODL). Go to http://dlib.york.ac.uk/ and log in (top right) using your University user name and password. You can then browse through the examination papers by clicking the Browse button towards the top left of the screen and then using the expandable menus to the left of the screen to navigate first to Exam papers and then to the department and year that you are interested in. A step by step guide to finding exam papers on YODL is available at https://wiki.york.ac.uk/x/6QFH

Alternatively, you can search by the title of an examination, by a module number, by the term 'exam paper', by degree level (e.g. 'BA'), by year, or by department. For example, the search 'archaeology BA exam paper' will find all of the BA level examination papers for that department.

Compact Store 2

There is a complete set of examination papers from 1965 to 2010 in Compact Store 2, including Psychology papers up to 1999. They are shelved in the same bay as the Education MA theses. They are non-borrowable but may be taken out of Compact Store 2 to be read elsewhere in the Library.

All paper copies of examination papers held by the Library are listed on the Library Catalogue. In the Search for: box, select Journal Title ... contains word(s) and in the Enter word(s) or phrase: box type York examination papers.
