Adults, Older People and Carers Team Consultation Group

The Adults, Older People and Carers Team wants to make sure that all the research they undertake covers issues that are important to adults and older people.

The team has a consultation group of people who use health and social care services or provide help from the voluntary sector. They can provide the best insight into the issues that are important in their lives and how these care systems work from the users' perspective. The consultation group includes disabled and older people, and family carers.

The group meet together to debate and decide which are the important issues to cover in the team's research. They find out more about research that has already taken place and have a say in what is studied in the future. As well as helping identify topics for research, the group help with designing proposals and advising on the methods used in the research.
When projects are finished, the group give advice on the best ways to ensure that the people who need to know the results, get the information. Sometimes we run workshops or conferences to tell people about our research and members of the group are involved in these if they want to be. The group meets twice a year at the University.
