Community relations

Public lectures and outreach
We work closely with departments to support the University's work on community relations. If you are interested in organising a public lecture, or would like to be involved in outreach activities, then do get in touch with us. We can put you in touch with other staff working on outreach activities, help organise and publicise public lectures, and work with you to generate media coverage when appropriate.

Public lectures

We organise and publicise corporate public lectures including inaugural lectures. We also advise and help departments in the organisation of their own public lectures.

Funding for public lectures

Funding is available from the Distinguished Visitors Fund to support student societies, departments and colleges who hope to invite a distinguished speaker to the University.

Public engagement with science

We coordinate, and publicise, a number of 'public engagement with science' initiatives. An important aspect of this work is the creation and support of the Science and Society Group which facilitates liaison between all science departments in this area. Find out more about how to get involved.
