About the Department of Chemistry
The Department of Chemistry is a large and successful department in an attractive University with an excellent reputation for teaching and research. Our research, covering all aspects of modern chemistry, was rated extremely highly in the most recent Research Assessment Exercise (December 2008).
We have around 50 full-time members of staff including many winners of international prizes, over 460 undergraduate students, approximately 150 graduates (mainly studying for the PhD degrees) and 80 research fellows. We have a group of coherent laboratories, recently extended and modernised to provide an excellent environment for teaching and research.
