Let's talk about 'race' - open lecture

Thursday 24 October 2019, 5.30PM

Speaker(s): Prof. Kevin Hylton

The Staff Race Equality Forum presents Kevin Hylton’s lecture, Let’s talk about ‘race’ - a timely talk that centres the challenges of higher education in regard to race equality, diversity, and BAME student experiences. His presentation will provoke us to consider the everyday challenges of managing racial inequalities, institutional discrimination and everyday racism.

As a Patron of the ECU/Advance HE Race Equality Charter and renowned Critical Race Theorist, Professor Hylton emphasises the significance of ‘race’ in HE and the embedded complexities of racism. Insights draw on his extensive experience as Professor of Equality and Diversity, Head of the Centre for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and founding chair of the Leeds Beckett Race Equality and Diversity Forum.
