Don't leave your books in York over Summer!

News | Posted on Monday 26 June 2023

If you're leaving the City for the vacation, please either return your borrowed books and other items first, or take them with you to post back if necessary. Books can still be recalled by other users during the summer, although you'll now have 14 days to return them.

You can drop books off or post them back to the library

If you have any trouble getting your items back to us (perhaps you've already gone home and your books are locked in a room somewhere...) please just get in touch with us so we can plan what to do. For example if it's a popular book with lots of people waiting to use it, we may buy additional copies if we know there will be a delay. You can speak to us by email, phone, Chat, or in person at our Help Desks.

How to return items (including free postal returns!)

Of course, you can always return your items in person using the Book Return Point in the main Library. The Morrell, Burton and Fairhurst are still open 8am to midnight every day overt the vacation period.  You can also use the Bookdrop outside the Morrell (to the right of the main entrance doors) and the one at the Ron Cooke Hub, both available 24/7.

Anyone is welcome to return their Library items by post and we will pay for the postage costs! You can post items to us both from within the UK and outside it. We've put all the details on our website; there's a lot of detail so rather than reproducing it all in this News item, here's a link for all those wishing to post the books home to us.
