Lucy, MA in Poetry and Poetics

I read English at York for my undergraduate degree, and I was eager to stay in order to continue working with various members of staff. The combination of breadth and focus in the undergraduate course had challenged me to tackle contrasting areas of study and allowed me to pursue particular subjects in greater detail. I was tempted by York's Poetry and Poetics MA because no other university in the UK offers such a genre-specific, trans-historical approach to this area of study. The MA has given me the opportunity to be taught by members of staff across multiple centres (such as CModS, CREMS and CMS) and engage with my research in a more interdisciplinary way. I love the variety of opportunities that York provides for postgraduate students, such as reading groups, lecture series and festivals; and have found that the Humanities Research Centre creates a real hub for community and scholarship.
