Laura, PhD

I chose to come to York mainly because of the supervisor I wanted to work with, but also because of the high ranking of York's English department for research. I did my BA in Cambridge and my MA at UCL, and I'm extremely happy I chose to come to York for my PhD. The research community is very close, and there are plenty of opportunities available to extend your research into other activities like postgraduate forums, reading groups, conferences and teaching. These are great opportunities for you professionally, but they also give a certain buzz to the department.
