Profile

Biography

Professor McGuire leads CRD’s research programme in child health. His main interests are in neonatal nutrition and infection. He is involved in evidence synthesis, randomised controlled trials, knowledge translation and quality improvement projects that aim to improve outcomes for preterm or sick newborn infants and their families.

He is the chief investigator for the National Institute of Health Research Neonatal Care Evidence-synthesis Programme.

He is co-ordinating editor for Cochrane Neonatal and has led many Cochrane reviews, several of which have informed national and international policy and guidelines (see impact case study submitted for REF 2021).

He is a member of the NIHR Health Technology Assessment (HTA) Editorial Board.
