Event details

In recent years, Twitter has established itself as a valuable platform for researchers to promote their research to wider audiences and create vibrant international networks. However, given the current uncertainty surrounding Twitter an increasing number of academic researchers are starting to look at the possibility of using alternative social media platforms to share and promote their research. To help researchers at York make an informed decision about whether these alternative social media platforms suit their needs this project will host a one-off half-day workshop looking at the usability and utility of these alternatives to Twitter. The workshop itself will run for 3 hours and will be open to researchers across the University (including postgraduate research students). During the session, participants will be given short overviews of a number of alternative social media platforms currently available and how useful they are for academic researchers, as well as having the chance to ask questions about the functionality of these different platforms.
