AFERIA have published two policy briefs that explain the potential impact and direction of predicated landcover change and climate change over the coming decades.

AFERIA policy briefs

Funded by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in partnership with the University of Helsinki, Nairobi, Sokoine, Dar es Salaam, Jimma and Addis Ababa and co-ordinated through Icipe, CHIESA and AFERIA are projects that will run for 7 years to explore the impacts of climate change.

With landcover and climate change representing two of the significant challenges for the ecosystem services and the livelihoods of mountain communities in East Africa, the policy briefs explain the potential impact of climate changes predicted by high resolution models for Africa and of land cover changes following alternative adaptation pathways envisaged by stakeholders over the coming decades.
