LifeSim Childhood

Abstract

We are building a microsimulation model of childhood from birth to age 17 based on bespoke regression modelling of data from the UK Millennium Cohort Study. We will then link this to LifeSim Adulthood and use the combined LifeSim platform to estimate the long-term benefits of tackling different childhood disadvantages at different ages and to conduct lifecourse economic evaluations of the long-term costs, benefits and inequality impacts of specific cross-sectoral childhood policies.

Funding: Funded by the Wellcome Trust (Grant No. 205427/Z/16/Z) from 2017 to 2021 and the Prevention Research Programme from 2019 to 2024 (ActEarly Programme, MR/S037527/1), 2019 to 2024), and the UKRI "Long-Term Modelling Tools for Adolescent Mental Health and Wellbeing Research"(Grant No. MMR/X002837/1, 2023 to 2026).
