Exploring the past and understanding its legacy and role in the present is a key focus of research across the range of disciplines that the School of Arts and Technologies embraces.

This includes an interest in both cultural practices from specific historical periods such as theatre produced in the Terezín ghetto, cinema of the 1960s. We also explore contemporary media representations of the past such as the role of history in contemporary theatre, heritage cinema and digital heritage.

Our focus is on media texts such as plays, films and television series and on audiences and their behaviours. We are also interested in the wider institutional contexts in which those texts are made and circulate - and their audiences.
