York Lecturer Penny Spikins Hosts New Podcast

"The Story of Things" is a podcast series exploring the meaning of everyday objects from the past and present that help us explain the world we live in.

The Story of Things’ is a podcast series hosted by the University of York. It explores a variety of research that has changed the way we think or the way in which society operates. Experts in their field discuss how we understand the world around us and what researchers and communities are doing to improve our environment, culture, health and wellbeing. Series One and Two is supported by the York Festival of Ideas and presented by Archaeologist, Dr Penny Spikins.

Spikins asks: Why do we emotionally react to objects? Do certain objects help us in our uniqueness? Is it the story behind the object that truly provides meaning?

Experts in their field discuss how we understand the world around us and what researchers and communities are doing to improve our environment, culture, health and wellbeing.
