Nathan's research spans plant genetics, archaeobotany and palaeogenomics

Nathan's research spans plant genetics, archaeobotany and palaeogenomics. Nathan uses genetic analysis of archaeological and historic plant remains to understand the history of domestication and improvements of many important species, including maize, sunflowers and the grapevine.

Nathan states:

"It’s fantastic to be joining such a dynamic department with strengths in so many sub-disciplines of archaeology. The historic city of York is the perfect place to study the past, so I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to guide ancient DNA research at BioArCh!”

Welcome to the department, Nathan!
