Before you apply

Professorial promotion timeline for 2023

April to June

Applicants should:

Heads of Department will:

  • Consult with senior departmental colleagues on a report to accompany each application
  • Share their report with applicants. They may incorporate any applicant comments into the final version

June / July

Applicants should:

  • Finalise their application by noon on 30 June 2023

Heads of Department will:

  • Complete their report, including the name of referees to be contacted, by noon on 21 July 2022

July-August

HR seek references from the nominated referees

  • Alternative referees may have to be identified if a referee is unwilling or unable to provide a reference

October

Promotions Committee meets:

  • The Committee meets, with references, to agree its recommendations for promotion
  • HR notifies applicants of outcomes
  • Promotions will be applied in October backdated to 1 August 2023
