Purpose
- To oversee the development of the University’s inclusive campus and community agenda and objectives with regard to disability.
- To consult, engage and communicate with diverse students, staff and visitors on the preparation, development and progress of the disability objectives.
- To promote awareness in respect of estate design and management and culture across the institution.
- To consider and approve a programme of innovative beacon activities aimed at improving disability access and the wider inclusion agenda.
- To take account of relevant legislation and good practice.
- To consider possible approaches to external agencies and funders with regard to disability issues.
- To raise issues of disability equality and inclusion to relevant University groups and committee where this requires further action for example HR, IT, Estates and Campus Services.
- To receive regular updates on current good practice on accessibility issues.

Purpose
- To provide guidance across the University on the approach to accessibility statements, through regular testing and reporting.
- To review, manage and recommend appropriate software requirements and licences to support e-accessibility across the University.
- To coordinate and plan training for all staff to ensure key accessibility principles are adopted when using digital systems.
- To undertake an audit and develop a system of allocation of the current provision of assistive technology and equipment available for disabled staff and students.

Culture and Good Practice Working Group

Purpose
- A working group to design and develop disability inclusion policies, guidance and initiatives related to staff and university culture.
- To review, develop and promote appropriate initiatives and good practice to support disability inclusion.
- To provide input to help progress the University’s commitments under the Disability Confident scheme and make recommendations to the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Committee, or other committees/groups as appropriate.
- To ensure the uptake of mandatory disability awareness training.
- To raise issues of disability equality and inclusion to relevant University groups and committees where this requires further action, for example HR, IT, Estates and Campus Services.
- To receive regular updates on current good practice and legislation on disability inclusion issues.

Purpose
- To work collaboratively across teams and service areas to improve the experience for disabled students across the student journey.
- To oversee enhancement areas for the support for disabled students across different teams and directorates, using data and evidence informed approaches to inform priority areas for enhancement.
- To raise issues of equality and inclusion for disabled students at relevant University committees and groups, with input from individuals, teams and relevant projects and working groups across the University.
- To consult, engage and communicate with students and staff on different areas of support for disabled students, including associate members of the working group.
- To take account of relevant legislation, external regulation and good practice and provide a forum to consider how these are addressed at strategic and operation levels within the University.
- To work collaboratively to raise awareness of disability inclusion at the University, including inclusive practice and anticipatory adjustments for students, through guidance, training and staff development activities.
- To set up sub-groups or task and finish groups to progress key actions in line with the remit and terms of reference for the working group.
- To coordinate evidence for, and enhance commitments in line with the Disabled Student Commitment.
- To develop student voice and student partnership mechanisms for disabled students in line with the remit and terms of reference for the working group.
The sub-groups' progress reports are shared with relevant committees, such as the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Committee and the Joint Negotiation and Consultation Committee.
